Hello everyone! Lela now has a new blog and can't wait to share all the latest info on our brand.

I've been asked on many occasions to create a blog for the Lela brand and have decided that there is no time like the present. So here is a blog that will help showcase a brand that does more than just create great products for young girls, but helps to inspire and encourage kids from all walks of life about the importance of self worth. 

For those of you who are just hearing about the brand for the first time, Lela is a new and exciting character brand with the beautiful Lela girl icon - representing girls of African and Caribbean decent. The name Lela is of Swahili origin meaning 'black beauty.' The brand first launched with the adorable Lela backpack and t-shirt and is now launching some new and exciting products. Our aim is to continue to fill that huge gap in the market for a character that showcases the beauty of African and Caribbean girls. 

We have been working hard to bring you some fantastic new products with great new designs and the quality you'd expect from a brand that brings you nothing but the best for your little princess. 

This is me with my two beautiful daughters and the ever so adorable Lela backpack. 

The idea was born when a proud father (my husband) of a beautiful new born baby girl went out looking for something special to buy for his little princess. He came across a few items of merchandise for young girls with animated characters on them, none of which represented his daughter. After making this discovery he went home to his wife (me) and expressed his disappointment. So using her creative flair they set out on a journey to develop a character that young African and Caribbean girls can relate to. 

Our aim is for Lela to be an inspiration to children from all walks of life, encouraging them to feel good about themselves.
